Academy Hills Library × JSIE Collaboration Event Series
JSIE, in association with Academy Hills Library, launches a new forum series “First Movers Forum” in 2017. We welcome globally-active first movers in various fields to participate as speakers/panelists and to share their trials, challenges and lessons.
We support individuals who have the courage to solve local/global challenges and to boldly move forward with actions on various fronts. By engaging in dialogue with inspiring individuals, we can gain insight into problem-solving, expand our realm of activities, and broaden our perspectives from local to regional and from regional to global.
The theme for the first forum is “Engaging in Global Challenges by Maximizing Japanese Strengths”. Four panelist discussants: Mr. Tatsuki Shimokawa (Executive Vice President of GES Inc.), Mr. Akito Hotehama (President & CEO of Double-elle Inc.), Mr. Makoto Goda (President & CEO of Nippon Biodiesel Fuel Co. Ltd.), and Ms. Mio Yamamoto (Co-Founder & Executive Director of World in Tohoku) discussed the potential of Japanese technology and Japanese culture and how they take advantage of these in solving global issues/challenges.
We can solve problems the world faces today if we use our technology and know-how in an optimal way, and we can meaningfully impact the world than doing it in Japan. Based on this strong belief, the entrepreneurs on our panel strive to make a difference in the global scene. They discussed lessons they have learned, shared their views on how they see Japanese strengths, provided perspective on why to tackle global rather than domestic challenges, shared what making a global impact means to them, and highlighted why to act now.
