There are numerous social challenges to overcome not only in Japan but worldwide in order to achieve a society that women can actively and inclusively participate in. To make this vision a reality, JSIE particularly aims to develop and expand Asian women’s presence as global leadership roles in business, government, political, and social activities. We promote empowerment of Asian women and contribution to the global community.
In 2015, JSIE launched “Washington Women’s Dialogue” in Washington, D.C. This dialogue features prominent female speakers such as former government officials, business leaders, and political leaders, and the speakers share their life experience with participants. It offers opportunities that participants can discuss various issues on social and international challenges and learn how to overcome such challenges and strengthen women’s presence.
JSIE organized the First Washington Women’s Dialogue at Evermay on December 2nd 2015. We welcomed newly appointed Japanese Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs Aiko Shimajiri. Joined by Hon. Natsumi Higa, LDP House of Representatives, approximately 40 participants exchanged comparative views on US-Japan women career/child-raising issues. After the discussion, networking reception was arranged for the participants so that they could get to know each other better and enjoy further discussion.
